The contract between ECMWF and IBM UK Ltd was signed on 20 December 2007.
EMS Council meeting
On 6-7 March 2008, ECMWF hosted the 18th session of the Council of the European Meteorological Society (EMS).
Implementation of new VarEPS-Monthly forecasts
On Tuesday, 11 March 2008, ECMWF integrated its Monthly Forecasting System with the medium-range Ensemble Prediction System (VarEPS). The new monthly forecast products were produced for the first time on Thursday, 13 March 2008.
ERA-interim products available
ERA-Interim reanalysis products for the years 1989-1998 are now available for research and education at 1.5° resolution from the ECMWF on-line Data Server.
ECMWF wave forecasts for WMO
ECMWF has now made a range of marine forecast products available to WMO Members.
Latvia becomes 13th Co-operating State
On 30 April 2008, the Latvian Government officially notified the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) that all internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the co-operation agreement between Latvia and ECMWF had been completed.
