Jörn Hoffmann is the Application Partnerships Lead at ECMWF for the EU Destination Earth initiative. He also leads the Applications and Innovation Partnerships team in the User Outreach and Engagement section.

He holds PhD and MSc degrees in Geophysics from Stanford University and has over 15 years of experience working on policy and science topics related to the European Copernicus programme.

Jörn joined ECMWF in 2022 to work on Destination Earth partnerships.

2007-2022 German Space Agency at DLR - Senior Scientific officer. Leading the development of national positions on Copernicus and national measures in the context of Copernicus, contributions to international initiatives including the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and the Committee on Earth Observing Satellites (CEOS); Delegate to the Copernicus Committee and the Copernicus User Forum.
11/2015 - 05/2016 European Space Agency (ESA), Earth Observation Directorate - Seconded National Expert. Supporting the preparation of Earth Observation Programmes for ESA's Ministerial Conference 2016.
09/2007 - 03/2008 Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs - Policy Officer. Responsible for the national participation in GMES (now "Copernicus") and the international GEO initiative.
2003 - 2007 German Aerospace Centre (DLR), German Remote Sensing Data Center - Research Associate. Research on applications of SAR, InSAR and digital elevation models.
