Sara Faghih-Naini

Computer Scientist


Sara Faghih-Naini joined the Research Department of ECMWF in December 2023. Her work in the EU-funded ESiWACE3 project focuses on the development of the GT4Py domain-specific library for the next-generation non-hydrostatic FVM dynamical core. Her background is in Applied Mathematics and High-Performance Computing.

Career background:

Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.), University of Bayreuth, Germany (defending in 2024). Thesis on "Discontinuous Galerkin methods and high performance computing approaches for ocean simulations." (supervised by Vadym Aizinger, in close collaboration with Harald Köstler (Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg)).

M.Sc. Industrial Mathematics, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany (2019). Final Grade: Distinction. Thesis on "Theory and Numerics for Convective Heat Transport in Nanofluids". (supervised by Eberhard Bänsch)
