Career background: After qualifying whilst working at Abbey Life Assurance in Ireland, he moved to BNP Paribas in London, where he undertook a number of roles, including the setup of an integrated Procurement and Administration Team, which was successful in reducing costs and improving support service levels in both the UK and France. Nyall carried out a number of interim assignments, mainly in the public sector, acting as Director of Finance and Corporate Services for a number of organisations, including the Legal Ombudsman and Local Partnerships, a local government and Treasury owned specialist consultancy. These roles included the setup of the Finance, IT and Premises functions for a new organisation and the turnaround of under-performing support areas in organisations facing change. Nyall joined ECMWF as Director of Administration in December 2011 where he is responsible for the Finance, Human Resources, Property, Legal and Communications functions. He is currently leading the project to relocate the ECMWF datacentre to Bologna.
