I was born in Lecco, on Lake Como (Italy), where I lived until 1987, studying mathematics and physics, and enjoying trekking, climbing and skiing. In 1987 I moved to Milano (Italy) and started working for the Center for Thermo-Nuclear Research of the electricity board of Italy (CRTN-ENEL). On the 24th of May 1988 Gioia and I got married. In October 1991 I left CRTN/ENEL and moved to Reading (UK), where I joined the Research Department of the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). This is where I am currently employed as Principal Scientist in the Predictability Division. Between 1993 and 1998 Gioia and I had three children, Caterina, Leonardo and Ludovico. In October 1995 we moved to London, where we are still living. When not in London, you can find us in Palaia, in Tuscany. I have a degree in Physics (Laurea) from the University of Milan (Italy), a Doctor in Philosophy (PhD) degree from the Department of Mathematics of University College London (UK), and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from London Business School (UK). My CV, some information about my work and some personal details can be accessed from this page.
