General Purpose Servers

 
 

Introduction

ECMWF operates the following general purpose Unix servers

  • a Linux Cluster which is used to provide a general purpose computing service (for internal use).
  • An IBM p690 server running AIX 5.32 for use by Member States

 

Configuration of the IBM p690 Server

IBM p690 Server "ecgate"

This system is provided for use by ECMWF Member States. It is configured as follows

  • 32 1.9 GHz Power 4 CPUs
  • 132 GB memory
  • Multiple Gigabit Ethernet network interfaces

An IBM FAStT700 disk subsytem with 1 TB of disk space is connected to both the p690 and the 2 Nighthawk II servers.

The system runs AIX 5.3
