ERA-Interim is the latest ECMWF global atmospheric reanalysis of the period 1989 to present. ERA-Interim products can be retrieved from MARS (class=ei, expver=1) or downloaded from the ECMWF Data Server. Please see the ERA-Interim archive document for a full description of the available products. When using the data server, please refer to our list of frequently asked questions. ERA-Interim products on MARS and the data server are normally updated on a monthly basis, allowing a two-month delay for quality assurance and for correcting technical problems with the production, if any. Product updates will be announced here as soon as they occur.
Known quality issues with ERA-Interim data Data for February 2009 were replaced in the MARS archive on 15 May 2009 1500UTC, and on the Data Server on 18 May 2009 1200UTC (1 July 2009). The values of convective available potential energy (CAPE) at step 3 hours are erroneously zero in the CAPE products (13 May 2009). Due to an error in the ECMWF forecast model, incident solar radiation at the top of the atmosphere is approximately 3Wm-2 higher than intended. This has resulted in a slightly warmer (approximately 1K) upper stratosphere for the entire ERA-Interim period (4 May 2009). Other recent events Production of ERA Interim data from 1 February 2009 onwards has been moved to a new computer (19 May 2009). ERA Interim data from 1 February 2009 onwards use OSTIA sea-ice and sea surface temperature (19 May 2009).
