DEMETER is the acronym of the EU-funded project entitled "Development of a European Multimodel Ensemble system for seasonal to inTERannual prediction". DEMETER was the goddess of fertility in the ancient Greece and in the classical Rome became Ceres. The objective of the project is to develop a well-validated European coupled multi-model ensemble forecast system for reliable seasonal to interannual prediction. A fundamental aspect is to establish the practical utility of such a system, particularly to the agriculture and health sectors.

This site is divided into several parts, as described below:

  • General information about the project
  • News and useful practical information concerning the development of the project
  • A list of links, including seasonal forecast information and external meetings
  • Verification results
  • Data dissemination

The basic reference of the project is:
