ENACT is the acronym of the European Union-funded project entitled "ENhAnced ocean data assimilation and ClimaTe prediction". ENACT was a 3-year project (2002-2004). Its two main objectives were:

  1. lmprove and extend ocean data assimilation systems, and apply them to produce global ocean analyses over a multi-decadal period
(select ocean analyses available for download).

PLEASE NOTE: that more recent ocean reanalyses are available as part of the EU_project ENSEMBLES (click here for the ENSEMBLES data).

  2. Quantify the benefits of the enhanced assimilation systems through retrospective seasonal and multi annual climate forecasts and through analysis of ocean behaviour in a multi-model framework
(select seasonal forecast available for download - TO BE UPDATED).

To learn more about ENACT, download the final report (pdf file: 2.2 Mb).

Other information about ENACT can be found at UK Met Office Hadley Center
