Each year, ECMWF Member and Co-operating states are invited to submit reports on the application and verification of ECMWF products in their national services. These reports are presented annually to the ECMWF Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Following the recommendation of the TAC, the reports should focus on the use of products in each service; the inclusion of verification of weather parameters is particularly valuable to ECMWF to complement the comprehensive upper-air verification carried out operationally at ECMWF.
Guidance on verification of local weather forecasts is given in ECMWF Technical Memorandum 430 by P Nurmi.
