Ocean wave products

This page contains links to wave related forecast products that are readily available on the Centre web pages.

Please note that the linked charts are only displayed if you have sufficient credentials.

Forecasts

The forecast products are either in the form of area maps for a set of forecast steps or as time series for a specific location for Wave Epsgrams. Note that by default the atmospheric Epsgram is shown. Select your location and switch to "10 days wave" for wind and waves. Wave Epsgram are only meaningful for Ocean location though.

Deterministic forecast

Verification

Model outputs can be compared to in-situ observations. This comparison was extended to include other operational centres at a selected subset of locations. However, the in-situ wave data coverage is rather limited. One can then resort to score forecasts with respect to model analysis as performed for other atmospheric parameters.

Observation monitoring

Model data can be used to monitor the quality of the data from different instruments on boards several polar orbiting satellites.
