ECMWF, Shinfield Park, Reading, United Kingdom 24 - 26 November 2008 Workshop backgroundFollowing the recommendations made during the 11th workshop on Meteorological Operational Systems held at ECMWF in November 2007, ECMWF, the UK Met Office and Météo France are jointly organising a dedicated workshop on the use of GIS systems in meteorology. The aim of this workshop is to review the use of OGC standards in geo-sciences in Europe and worldwide, to promote collaboration between meteorological services in order to define a set of common standards that will enhance interoperability. The expected outcome of the workshop is a roadmap for the creation of common reference implementation of OGC compliant web services for meteorological data which could lead to a set of recommendations to WMO. It is envisaged that the workshop will consist of a limited number of presentations from invited speakers, plus a series of 15 minutes contributions. There will be open discussion, working groups and plenary sessions. HotelsClick here for a selection of hotels and guest houses in Reading.
