Principal InvestigatorDr Gregor Czisch Other researcher(s): Ta;ia Altmann, Dr Rami Guetta, Prof Dr Dan Zaslavsky Project descriptionThe goal of this study is to incorporate the important parameters that affect the electricity production of an Energy Tower into a model capable of calculating the “ Energy Tower potential” for an entire region across a whole year. Here, we evaluate two aspects of the potential of Energy Towers, the net power production and the energy production cost. In the past we made an evaluation of the potential of electricity and desalinated water supply by using technology of " Energy Towers" for Australia and America. In the next year we made an evaluation of the potential of electricity production, the net power production and the energy production cost, for North Africa and South Africa. Last year we concentrated on Asia, especially India, Pakistan and the Middle East. This picture can point out the best potential sites in each region. The program for the next years is to choose several sites in different regions and using detailed climate data for these sites. The predicted output: location of the tower, energy production along the year (gross power, pumping power, net power), optimized design and operation of the tower, electricity cost, economic analysis. For more details, please refer to the latest progress report (2006) and extended report. Additional informationProject started in 2001.
